FAQs

I don't have a microwave, what do I do?!

Don't panic! Our meals can easily be cooked in the oven, just follow the guidelines below:

From frozen:
Pre-heat your oven to 200°c / 190°c fan / gas mark 6. Pierce film and place on a baking tray in the centre of the oven. Cook for 45 minutes. Remove film, make sure your dish is piping hot in the middle before serving.

From defrosted:
Pre-heat your oven to 200°c / 190°c fan / gas mark 6. Pierce film and place on a baking tray in the centre of the oven. Cook for 25-30 minutes. Remove film, make sure your dish is piping hot in the middle before serving.

Can I cook from defrosted?

Absolutely yes! Just follow the following guidelines for cooking:

To defrost:
Let your PEP meal defrost in a fridge over night.

Microwave:
Pierce film. Cook on full power for 4 minutes, let stand for 1 minute. Check piping hot in the middle as microwaves vary in power.

Oven:
Pierce film. Cook in preheated oven at 190°c fan for 25-30 minutes. PEP meals make great Al Desko lunches at work, just pop in your office kitchen fridge when you get to work and follow the above cooking instructions at lunch time.

How do I recycle my packaging?

Our packaging is 100% recyclable or compostable as follows:

Ready Meal Packaging: White food trays: Rinse and recycle with paper or better still compost at home! Film: Rinse and recycle with plastic.

Delivery Packaging: **Please note you can go one better than recycling and send your insulated liner box and gelpacks back for us to reuse.

Outer cardboard box: Recycle with paper.

Insulated liners: Separate the outer plastic casing and inner denim insulation. Recycle outer casing with plastics. Inner denim insulation is biodegradable and can be composted or put in garden waste collection.

Gel pack: Simply cut the corner of the pack and dispose of the contents through the normal domestic waste system. The contents are benign, given the dilution of the polymer and purification of the water they are not at all harmful to the environment. The outer film is totally recyclable as LDPE 4.

Are all your meals frozen?

Yes! Freezing allows us to cook your meals as you would at home, with no need to add preservatives, excess salt or sugar to extend the shelf life. Just honest cooking, naturally preserved.
